Bologna Promoters

The implementation of the Bologna Process is now facilitated by 7 Bologna Experts who provide a resource to the wider higher education community in responding to the challenges of the Process. The promoters were selected by the NA for Socrates-Erasmus in Ireland (HEA) and approved by the Department of Education and Science in consultation with the national steering group established to oversee the implementation of the Bologna Process.

The promoters comprise six senior academics and administrators and one student representative who have been chosen because of their in-depth knowledge in quality assurance, qualifications frameworks and recognition issues in higher education.
The Bologna Promoters will focus on the following areas in 2005:

  • Dissemination of the relevance of the Bologna declaration to Irish higher education institutions and Irish policy developments.
  • Promotion of quality assurance.
  • Three Cycle System and review of longer cycle programmes that are not Bologna compliant.
  • Promotion of ECTS and Diploma Supplement.

Higher education institutions interested in seeking the advice of a Bologna Promoter should contact the Promoters or the Socrates Erasmus NA on 01 271 7100 or at info@bologna.ie
